Acronyms are great learning tools to help memorize an important piece of information in a simplified format or summary.
Jesus is the best when it comes to providing the truth in symbolic stories. While reflecting on my salvation I never realized it before but there was an acronym Jesus provided when someone lost wants to come to God to be forgiven of their sins:
A: Ask, and it shall be given you....
S: Seek, and ye shall find......
K: Knock, and the door will be opened unto you.......Matthew 7:7
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened....Matthew 7:8
how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?....Luke 11:13
What are we asking God for?
1. We are asking for Truth. We want to understand God's truth and see things from His point of view and know His will for me. When you find Jesus you find the Truth Giver. He is the living Truth.
Truth brings security, peace, comfort, hope, joy and faith. He has been made Truth and righteousness for us.
2. We need to ask for forgiveness(repentance) and why and what the benefit is. He is the Creator and created me but sin has kept me from Him.
What is sin? Sin is natural rebellion against God and his commands in your soul, your being. Jesus is your human sacrifice when he died on a cruel roman cross for your human sin so that judgement will pass over you. Your a sinner because you were born into it because of our first parents Adam and Eve's rebellion at the Garden, not just because you do sinful things. It's like a permanent virus in you that can only be removed by the only vaccine....the precious blood of Messiah Jesus!
3. We need to ask to be saved....Jesus rose from death putting to death forever sin's condemning affect against you and me.... pray this.....Jesus you are alive! The way, the truth and the life. I realize you died for my sin on the cross. Forgive me of my sin and be my Savior, Lord. Make me the person of God you would have me to be for your sake. Amen....For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved...Romans 10:13
And when we want to know what God expects for us after we have believed, we should ask Jesus for his guiding hand in our life through His Word and His Spirit to glorify His Father until the day we are present with him.
James 1:5....if any man lacks wisdom let him ask of God
Isaiah 41:20....That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel(Jesus) hath created it.
Amen.
