For me, as a Husband and Father, the ultimate ministry, prayer and hope is to have our House saved and in heaven. And it seems to be God's will also as I read in the holy scriptures. There are wonderful examples for us to reference.
The first that struck my heart was Acts 16:30-31,34 regarding the Phillipian Jailer:
And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
Cornelius the Centurion would be next in Acts 10:2,27,33,44, Acts 11:14-15
A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. And as he(Peter) talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together. Immediately therefore I(Cornelius) sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded thee of God. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
Peter now relays the story to Jewish Christian Brethren, Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
Lydia had listened and heeded and was saved when Paul preached to her in Acts 16:14-15
And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshiped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.
Faithful Noah had his house saved as well, as written in Hebrews 11:7 and Genesis 7:1
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
God himself had spoken to Abraham directly about his character that his children and household would keep the way of the LORD in Genesis 18:18-19
Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgement; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
Surely, to truly fulfill our roles in our home, we are to point our family, our house, to God himself. So the gifts He has entrusted us, will bring Him Glory by faith in Jesus, His Son.
Don't ever give up on praying for the salvation of your house, as we were once stubborn, lost, without the hope of God, so let us with the long-suffering and patience of God, be diligent with sharing the Gospel, the greatest gift of forgiveness and ultimately Heaven, with our families until they say "Yes" to Jesus and commit to His Word and ways. Amen
