When Magnets Repel

I periodically meet with a Contractor friend at some of the buildings I manage. Today was one of those days. He "rocks and rolls for Jesus" during his work and I admire that he keeps Him at the forefront of his heart even during work. But I always prepare by praying when I am around him.

He calls himself a Christian and I believe him but he will almost provoke a doctrinal discussion about his views, when we are together, which are contrary to the Bible. I ask myself, "Lord, maybe he is confused." and other times I am glad that we agree that Jesus is Lord and our Savior and we agree to disagree.

Because of the differences of belief, it is hard to have fellowship with him. The Bible says that... God is not the author of confusion 1 Corinthians 14:33...  yea let God be true and every man a liar...Romans 3:4We are to study to show ourselves approved unto God...2 Timothy 2:15

Just as two magnets are the same type in essence, composition, and qualities of attractability and repellability, yet, when you place two similar magnets on the wrong side of each others poles, they repel! When you have 2 similar Christians with differing doctrines, they will repel each other to a degree. It doesn't mean one is saved and the other is not, but the same doctrinal beliefs of God and the virgin birth of the Son of God and His salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus for our sin must be there in order to work through these differences. So it is with us.

We are both Christians but see some truths differently on certain topics. It doesn't make us less a Christian. Magnets will always be magnets and Christians who are born again will always be born again believers no matter which side of a doctrine we may be on. I hope that you may bear patiently in the love of God also with your brethren who you may not see things eye to eye.
