My parents lost their house to a tornado storm about 4+ years ago so I saw devastation first hand and my childhood neighborhood that I grew up in the housescapes changed permanently even today some houses were never rebuilt so there are gaps of empty landscape lots in the former path of this long-gone storm. Other homes were built brand new or newly modified and stronger than before even with more beauty so there can be beauty for ashes as the Bible says in (Isaiah 61:3).
One thing I saw first-hand which shocked me and touched me was the real love of God and God's people and by standers and strangers in action (compassion) who wanted to help my parents and other victims recover by coming to cut down broken trees, others came to remove piles of trash from inside our homes and in the landscape to the street curbs even without asking, others drove by with bags of Taco Bell and Chik-fila food and even others with water bottles which all of us were so grateful for even the volunteers who tirelessly helped just because...another show of love and kindness were the Marines who just came in and started helping, just poured in the love of God and the love of others who were hurting. We were blessed and now others need blessed.
Operation Blessing from CBN the 700 Club are there in Haiti and here State side helping victims of these storms to recover as well as Samaritan's Purse. If you don't know where to give, give to these who are already in the middle of supporting the victims. I know there are others and God bless you if you are directly making an impact may the Lord have His angels to have charge over you (Psalm 91:11).
